I don't think it will fall, I think it will fade. This is a high order religion such as mormans are and is very legal and organized. There will be angry people. There always are when you get burnt. But for all the angry people in the last 130 years not much harm at all has ever come there way until the internet arrived. They indeed have enemies but there worst enemy is their own doctrines. The catholic church has survived a multitude of lawsuits and don't control their game even close to the witnesses game. People forget, even forgive and have to move on. It is a high control group. some would say a doomsday cult. But I do not beleive this to be a Jonestown or heavens gate. Theyve survived far too long for that. It may go mainsteam or just reach a peak with a contented lot who enjoy being lied to. If they do not embrace the modern age they will go the way of the amish so to speak.

so, it is apparent from the scriptures that jesus and his followers believed that the end of the world was coming in their own lifetime.

I never thought of that before. It looks like when prophecies fail each sucessive generation puts their own slant on it to keep the hope alive in there times. The first of the gospels wern't even written until these apostles were old men. Maybe they were writing with the hopes of being one of that generation in there day because they were getting close to death themselves. It might have been their own cognitive dissonance in seeing this as a reality. There are so many hard to beleive things in the gospels and inconsistancies why not beleive that to. Either the gospels are the greatest story ever told or the greatest lie ever told. I think it is easier for people to accept because it offers hope and talks of love and kindnes. It certainly has had a massive impact on the world in the last 2000 years. I wonder how the christians explain these scriptures you have pointed out.

the doctor couldn't give me another steroid injection for my migraines because it caused my blood sugars to go sky high and made me suffer from steroid induced mania; and then after it started leaving my system, i had this really down feeling.

I was in a congregation that I knew plenty of people taking antidepresants. I myself used to take lithium which made me very sick. I then tried clonazepam otherwise known as rivotril. This comes from a family of drugs known as benzodiazepines. Rivitrol in therapy is supposed to cut off the flow of adrenaline to the heart which calms you down. Problem is adrenaline otherwise known as adenosine tri phosphate is in your body for a reason and it strengthens the heart. Side effects were tiredness and loss of sex drive. Coming off of it resulted in phychosis. Very very scary. I was a disturbed person to begin with before taking this and my phychiatric sessions were nothing more than bitching and yelling for an hour. My state of mind was hard to describe. I could watch television and see nothing but meaningless images flashing across the screen. It felt as if my brain was growing inside my head. I could only see people as meaningless blobs of meat. I was in great fear of not being able to control myself and doing something irrational. Got thoughts I didn,t want and couldn't control. I felt horror by looking into the sky and seeing the size of the universe in relation to myself and how insignificant I was. Almost like being sucked into a vortex. This is the point in my life where I decided that no matter what I felt or thought I would reject evil and used to chant this to myself over and over again. I developed a breathing technique in which I was able to calm my heart rate down due to the reintroduction of atp to my heart. For the funny feeling in my body and inablity to sleep I used to shake my feet for hours while lying in bed. This did two things. It had a rocking effect which was comforting and I told myself that all the bad energy was leaving my body through my toes. It is a fact that phychiatrists are given certain meds that they use in there practise in return for trips, bonuses etc. It is now known that three drugs recently on the market have been known to cause suicdes with some people. I have tried many more drugs in 20 years and am now convinced that the human brain which took 2 and a half million years to evolve is far to complex to be introducing new substances and understanding there effects. Progress however is being made in understanding the mind and I would like to beleive that this pseudo science will be replaced with actual cures with no side effects. I do not speak for everyone and know that we are all different but that is my opinion. I am now not as disturbed as i used to be and have learned more effective coping strategies and logic now rules my life. All my problems arn't solved yet but I will continue to fight until they are or I drop dead.

I think I have indulged myself to death over the last 20. This is the result of being wound up like a spring that explodes when you release it. It is also a mentality formed on the idea that I was condemed anyhow and the end is coming so who cares. Well I learned that there are some things that you truly must care about. It has been a world of extremes in my learning experience. Now I've swung back to going inside my shell. I hope as I age I'll understand what moderation is better. I will probably define fun differently as well.

This is informative, and you all make good points. Open discussion is what this board is all about, and I'm glad to see that openess. That is how progress is made. I'm don't doubt that this is a hot topic either where strong emotives or lack of knowledge can overide tolerance. Lets congradulate ourselves. I think I mentioned in my first post that christians are just as guilty of extermism with the crusades and I don't doubt at all that the Indians saw us as seeking world domination as well. However we are adressing the present day. In my opinion any religion that makes a woman cover her head anywhere she goes is extreme. In Australia an imam was told to apologize for saying that women are to blame for getting raped because of the way they dress. He said if you open a can of meat for a cat and leave it in the alley and it gets devoured it's not the cats fault. In the horn of Africa Islam was sucessful in taking over the warlords until the Ethiopians pushed them back. In France their are over 8 million muslims. Granted they have been mistreated by the government but there are peaceful means of getting a point across. Presently the usa is in Iraq trying to establish a government that will last and represent the people better. It's costing billions every month and American lives. If Americans were seeking domination why are they always going into battles with there hands tied behind there backs ie. vietnam. Mahmoud Amadinjad has openly stated he wishes to wipe israel off the map. I know, I know, I know, there, truly are innocents out there who are peace loving fine people in these countries, victims. But on a closing note since nobody seems interested in this topic. I will leave you with some insight. Just in case some of you are thinking i'm a racist your dead fucking wrong. I'm simply making observation and wish to see other veiwpoints. I once dated a woman who was a Syrian belly dancer from Damascus. She had been a Jehovah's witness for at least 20 years and whenever Saddam Hussein would be on the news she would kiss the television set. That is very telling in where the heart lies.

I know that there is extremism in Islam but even among the moderates they don't seem eager to disasociate or speak up about this. I feel like it is a hidden desire in all who practise this religion. Many also do not seem to have any desire to integrate. Where I live they wanted shariah law in ontario for divorces but didn't get it.{ Yet.} Everywhere they go in the western world they want there way. You would be laughed at if you tried that in there countries. It isn't a matter of force it is a matter of numbers. The more people, the more voting power and legislative power. Laws must be put into effect to preserve our cultural roots. Most other immigrants have gone into the melting pot or cultural mosaic of the country and left the ways of the old country as would be expected of anyone that chose to live in aforeign country. There are many religions within our coutries and that's fine but they are not seeking world domination.

This must mean that they do not see the bible as a holy book. One day I was talking to a man from Jordan. A nice enough fellow he was. I mentioned that King David probably had venerial disease as the scriptures mention a burning in his loins not to mention all the women that he slept with, that absalom his son later wanted to pork. Did he ever take offense!" Why you say that?" "Why you say that?" I said, "well, it's in the bible." He didn't dispute that, but it seems the Koran has cleaned it up a bit. Was the bible borrowed from? Is Islam not aware that the enmity exists between us because God's promised seed came from Sarah rather than the slave girl Hagar. Do they reject this? Judaism was completed with Christ so why are they trying to complete Christianity was there something wrong with it? I find it remarkable that any religion can look in there holy books and start wars just like the crusades. Yet others can look at the same holy books and derive peace and comfort from them. Is Islam seeking world domination. It seems that christianity is only looking at the afterlife or the future for it's hopes but Islam is looking for world domination here and now and death has a different meaning as well. If that's the case I would deem it a mistake to allow the swearing in of Keith Ellison on a Koran. If I am wrong though and the Islamists see it that way, then they should be encouraging whites in their country to swear an oath of office on the holy bible. We all know of course this will never happen let alone a white ruler in the middle east. I've heard it said that if you brought a bible to the middle east in many areas it would be torn apart. What sort of tolerance is this. It's a double standard. Can you imagine what would happen if you took a koran and did that what would happen to you! Look at the outrage caused by a friggin cartoon. I beleive we are witnessing the beginning of a new trend wherin simply by numbers we will be overun.

by Terry init is little understood by christians what a difference there is between themselves and judaism; especially on the matter of whom god forgives and why.. a christian expects to sin against many people in the course of their life, but; proudly boasts that they aren't "perfect just forgiven.
" this is wrong by judaism's ethical, moral and theologic standards.. let me explain why.. in judaism; only the person you sin against can forgive you!.
if you steal from bob; only bob (the injured party) can forgive you.

Great post by the way Terry. I think your right. It's almost like christianity is a license to do whatever and you can always come out on top with no repercussions or regard for the wronged party. Interesting thought though. In the eyes of god it appears as though all sins are equal . Romans says that the wages of sin is death. This means that Saddam Hussein and Hitler have equal opportunity with a man who litters by dropping a bubble gum wrapper on the floor. If however a person dies and the debt is paid why is there to be a resurection of judgement. I thought the sin was paid for. Besides that if sin is paid for with death, then why did Jesus have to die for us. It's all insanity.
